Family Transition
The need to accommodate changes in this family's living arrangement dictated the complete renovation of the first floor of their home. There was a significant change in how the rooms would be used: a suite of rooms was created as a "mother-in-law apartment" and the common rooms were expanded and updated.
Zoning requirements dictated narrow parameters within which we could work, yet the small 1950's house needed a significant boost in overall floor space to accomplish the many new uses. The major new construction integrated a mudroom, kitchen, dining area, and great room with the luxury of a screened-in porch.
